Rural roads, older homes, larger lots and agricultural surroundings define much of western Hopewell.

Farm & Nursery Country

Buyers considering acreage should review zoning, preserved farmland, wetlands, drainage, access and permitted uses for the exact parcel.

Important 2026 change

Residential Sale Inspections

Effective January 1, 2026, Hopewell Township no longer requires a local Certificate of Occupancy or township smoke-certification inspection solely because a residential property is being sold.

Still Required Before Closing

  • Smoke detector compliance
  • Carbon monoxide detector compliance
  • 911 house-numbering compliance

These inspections are administered by the City of Bridgeton Fire Marshal’s Office.

Water & Septic Certifications

Where applicable, drinking-water quality and septic-system functionality certifications remain mandatory and must be completed to the satisfaction of the Cumberland County Health Department before closing.
